Fabal Adelaide Hills
Italian-leaning wines from the Onkaparinga Valley
Italian-leaning wines from the Onkaparinga Valley
Set on the Onkaparinga River flats near Balhannah, Fabal is one of the Adelaide Hills' more characterful small producers, with a leaning toward Italian grape varieties alongside the region's signature cool-climate styles.
The cellar door is low-key and welcoming, the kind of place where you can settle in for an unhurried tasting flight and talk grapes with whoever is pouring. The valley-floor setting, ringed by vines and river red gums, makes it an easy stop on a loop through Balhannah, Oakbank and Charleston.
It's a good pick for drinkers who already know Hills sauvignon and chardonnay and want to try something a little different.
