Carrick Hill

A 1930s English-style estate and garden on the Adelaide-side foothills, with sculpture trails and grand interiors.

On the edge of the foothills at Springfield, Carrick Hill is a rare survivor: a 1930s manor house and its formal gardens, gifted to the state and kept much as the original owners left it. The house is filled with art and antiques, while the grounds run to manicured lawns, a woodland sculpture trail and a much-loved children's storybook trail.

It's a serene half-day, equally suited to garden lovers, art browsers and families. Seasonal exhibitions and open-air events fill the calendar, and the café terrace looks back toward the city.

Autumn and spring are the standout seasons, when the deciduous trees and formal borders are at their best.
