Tilbrook Estate is about as boutique as the Hills gets — James and Annabelle Tilbrook tend their own high-altitude Lenswood vines and make everything by hand, from a beautifully bone-dry traditional-method sparkling to nervy chardonnay and pinot noir.
The cellar door operates from a converted apple packing shed, a reminder that Lenswood was orchard country long before it was vine country. Quantities are small and the welcome is personal; this is a stop for people who like to meet the maker and taste wines you simply won't find in a bottle shop.
