Lenswood Coldstore Cellar Door
A clutch of small Lenswood growers pouring crisp, high-altitude whites and pinot out of an old apple coldstore.
At more than 500 metres, Lenswood is one of the coolest corners of the Adelaide Hills, and the fruit shows it. The Lenswood Coldstore is exactly what its name promises: a converted apple coldstore on the ridge that now serves as a shared cellar door for a handful of the district's most respected small producers.
Expect tightly wound chardonnay, nervy sauvignon blanc and savoury pinot noir, all grown within sight of the tasting bench. It's an unpretentious room with a serious wine list, and the staff know every block on the hill.
Come for a structured tasting, leave with bottles you won't find in the city. On a clear day the views back across the orchards are worth the drive alone.
