Woodside Heritage Walk

An easy stroll through a historic Hills town

An easy stroll through a historic Hills town

Woodside is one of the more substantial historic towns of the central Adelaide Hills, and a self-guided heritage walk is the best way to read its story in stone. The route links the town's surviving 19th-century buildings — churches, the old institute, shopfronts and cottages — along and around the main street.

The walk is flat and family-friendly, easily combined with a stop at the town's well-known cheese and chocolate makers. Interpretive markers and a town map fill in the history of farming, the military camp and community life.

It's a gentle, rewarding way to slow down and appreciate a town many travellers only pass through.
