Just outside Woodside, Barristers Block is a friendly, family-run cellar door that has built a loyal following for its approachable cool-climate wines and laid-back hospitality. The name comes from the six-year legal battle the family fought to save their vineyard.
The cellar door is geared for lingering, with grassy grounds, platters and a genuinely warm welcome that makes it popular with groups and families. The range spans the Hills classics - sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, shiraz - alongside a few surprises. The cellar door is open seven days, 11am to 5pm.
It sits handily on the Woodside loop alongside cheese-makers, the chocolate factory and other cellar doors, making it easy to build into a day out.
