Pine and native forest for walking, riding and stargazing

Spanning a huge swathe of the northern Adelaide Hills, Mount Crawford Forest is a working pine plantation interwoven with pockets of remnant native bush. It's one of the region's best playgrounds for outdoor recreation away from the crowds.

A web of forest tracks and trails caters to walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders, while the Information Centre is the hub for permits, maps and seasonal activities. There are picnic grounds, a heritage fire tower and, away from town lights, some of the darkest skies within easy reach of Adelaide for stargazing.

Spring wildflowers and autumn colour are highlights; bring layers, as the forest runs cool.
